Band director Allan Coyle sentenced on sex charges

Allan Coyle, the 32 year old former band director at Currituck County High School in Barco, North Carolina has plead guilty and been sentenced to 1 year in jail. Coyle was originally arrested and charged with 6 counts of committing a sexual act with a student, and 6 counts of indecent liberties with a student after the girl and her parents came forward with allegations of sexual intercourse.

Coyle was released on bond. As part of his plea agreement, he will not be required to register as a sex offender, because his charge was "taking indecent liberties with a student", and not necessarily a minor.
