Former band director Danny Swarz indicted for sex crimes

Danny Swarz, the 41 year old former band director at Richlands High School in Richlands, Virginia was indicted on 7 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship. It is alleged that Swarz was involved in the sexual abuse of multiple students.

Allegedly Swarz exposed himself to students, made sexual propositions to students, tried to get a male student to expose himself to him, as well as inappropriately touching students. Reportedly these actions occurred during the 2007/2008 school season.

Swarz, a 12 year veteran of the school system, resigned in early 2008. Swarz was investigated by request of the county school board. He is being held in the jail pending the outcome of his charges.
