Heather Thorsby, a 35 year old art teacher at Independence High School in Franklin, Tennessee, has pleaded guilty to 3 counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and 2 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure. Thorsby was sentenced to 3 years in prison, and must register as a sex offender.

Thorsby and the girl, who was 17 at the time, reportedly began their relationship as simply friends, but somehow their relationship turned sexual. Thorsby and the girl reportedly had sexual contact both at the school, and Thorsby's home, between November 2006 and March 2007.

Thorsby will begin serving her sentence on August 20th, 2008.
