Phillip CardwellFormer English teacher at Simsboro High School in Simsboro, Louisiana, 55 year old Phillip Cardwell has been sentenced to 18 months in prison following incidents in which he took pictures of male students naked. He then posted those pictures on the internet.

Cardwell took the nude pictures of the several students during a camping trip in August 2006 and another in January 2007.

Cardwell was indicted on six felony counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of distribution of material harmful to minors, a misdemeanor. In January Cardwell pleaded guilty to six felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and one misdemeanor count of distribution of material harmful to a juvenile.

His 18 month prison sentence comes with a 10 year suspended sentence, 10 years of probation, the condition of not being allowed to access the internet or pornography, random polygraph tests, GPS monitoring, and no unsupervised contact with minors.

Cardwell was also once crowned teacher of the year. But more importantly, what the hell is a guy gonna do when he is legally not allowed to watch porn? That’s cruel and unusual.
