Regina McKay sentenced in rape of student
33 year old former computer teacher at Geronimo High School in Geronimo, Oklahoma, Regina McKay, was sentenced on second degree rape charges, after entering a plea of no contest.
Allegedly, McKay and her 17 year old student had a consensual sexual relationship. She is accused of luring the boy to her home with alcohol and cigarettes. The incidents occurred in 2006. Under Oklahoma law, it is considered to be second degree rape when a high school teacher has sex, consensual or not, with a student between 16 and 20 years old.
McKay resigned from the school system in September, but will be required to forfeit her teaching license within 5 days from the sentence. She will also be required to register as a sex offender, and not have any contact with minors without adult supervision. She was given a 5 year prison sentence, suspended. She will serve 30 days, all of them during weekends.
