Richard Foster sentenced to 25 years for making child porn movies at home

52 year old Richard Foster, a 6th grade teacher at Bradford Elementary School, in Bradford, Vermont has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison. Foster pleaded guilty to 2 counts of production of child pornography involving children under 12. The prosecution asked for a sentence of 25-27 years.
Foster was arrested in September of 2007 after being accused of sexual contact with a young boy, and was charged with exual assault on a minor, lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor, possession of child pornography, use of a child in a sexual performance and luring a child for sexual exploitation.
A boy who previously lived in Vermont near Foster, told authorities in Coral Springs, Florida about the alleged sexual contact. It was later discovered that months before his arrest, the grandmother of one of Fosters alleged victims, of which there were reportedly at least 3, noted that she had suspicions about the amount of time that Foster was spending with her grandchild.
Foster was released on $30,000 bond and the morning after, Vermont State Police received a 911 call from Fosters home, and the caller reportedly asked to send police anad then hung up. When police arrived, they found Foster with his wrists slashed, with the following note:
Dear Tropper (sic), I am sorry to start your day off this way. You will find me in the bathroom.
To my family, friends + students past and present. I am sorry for the pain I am putting you through. I have been weak and made bad choices. I do not wish to put anyone through a long drawn out affair, but wish to end it here and now. Please forgive me and move on with your lives. I hope you will be able to remember some of the good things about me and not just the bad.
To his alleged victim: I love you too and I am sorry for putting you through this. Please don’t let it scar you. Bounce back and move on. My bad — not yours.
My bad indeed… The mother of an 11 year old boy found text messages on the boys phone containing nude pictures of Foster touching himself. There was reportedly also sexual abuse of this boy as well, at Fosters home, where it is alleged all of the sexual assaults and abuse took place.
Foster was eventually released from the hospital after his suicide attempt, and immediately arrested by the FBI on child pornography charges, separate from his state charges. It was reported that after executing a search warrant on Fosters home, they found a professionally edited video including one of the boys and Foster together. It was said that Foster hired the 3 boys to work for his “video production company”.
In addition to his 25 year federal sentence, Foster still faces numerous sex charges by the state of Vermont. In the very best case scenario, Foster will be released when he is 77 years old.
