Substitute teacher Jack Owens arrested for sex with student

47 year old Jack Ownes, a substitute teacher at Marion County High School in Jasper, Tennessee has been arrested on charges of statutory rape by an authority figure, exploitation of a minor by electronic means. Ownes was also charged with carrying a weapon on school property, however that charge has since been dropped.

Owens is accused of having sexual contact with a student on school property. The students parents found the messages on the students cell phone, and called police. After Owens texted the student and the texts became sexual in nature, the police began responding to his text messages. Eventually they set up a meeting spot at the school, where police were waiting for Owens and arrested him.

Originally Owens was being held on a $250,000 bond, but his bond was reduced to $75,000 when his weapons charges were dropped.

Note to teachers texting students to meet up with them: If you say "lol", and the teenager responds with "yeah me too", or "10-4", or "what does that mean", it's probably a cop.
